Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation

Now, if you have read my previous posts, you know I am currently loving foundations with a matte formula. When I saw Rimmel came out with a new foundation that was a matte formula, I was really excited! I got mine at Ulta where it was priced at $4.99. The display had an instant $1.00 off coupon, making it a $4 foundation. I was hoping that maybe it would be holy grail status, and replace my $36.00 MUFE Mat Velvet +.

Unfortunately, I don't love this foundation. Well, I don't even like this foundation. First off here is my face with no foundation:
Clearly, I have a lot of redness to cover. I chose the shade 091 Light Ivory.

The consistency is that of a true mousse. It's light, airy and blends well. I used a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply the foundation and it applied very well. It had great coverage and I was super excited initially. In the next picture I have the foundation on one side of my face and the other side of my face is bare.
As you can see, it is pretty full coverage. It was very similar to the MUFE Mat Velvet + as far as application is concerned. It didn't make my skin look dry or cakey. But the real test is in longevity. It's great if a foundation looks good when first applied, but if it wears off by the time your day gets intense, what's the point?

Here is the foundation after I applied all my makeup. This was around 10:00am. I then went to work which isn't anything strenuous, it's not like I tried to wear it to the gym or a anything. I checked it out again when I got home 8.5 hours later and this is how it looked:
Girl, no. Not cute. It's hard to tell from the picture but it had completely broken down on and around my nose. It was cakey and just gross looking! I typically have dry skin with an oily t-zone but, my Mat Velvet + does not break down the way this one does. I have worn the Mat Velvet + to the gym after work and it doesn't even break down. So yeah, sure it looked great initially, but it just doesn't wear we'll, which is a total bummer! I will be sticking to my MUFE for the time being!

What is your favorite foundation? I'm always looking to try new ones!

A product that I hate to love...

Ah, L'oreal Le Matte Color Riche lipstick. When I saw this beauty in Target I was immediately intrigued. I love a matte lip. In fact, matte is my favorite lip finish. When I saw this product, I only bought one because I wanted to test it out before I went crazy and bought multiple colors. I was trying to be a responsible adult, okay?! Well, it back fired. I love this lipstick, and when I went back to buy more, they were gone! I can't find them anywhere! I'm so sad about it! I almost wish I never bought it because then I would never know what I'm missing!

Anyways, I did buy it, and I do love it, and here's why. The small shape of the stick makes it so easy to get a solid, consistent line around the edges of my lips. This is super important for me. It drives me crazy when I can't get the perfect shape I want out of a traditional thick lipstick. This makes it so easy, but its also large enough that it isn't as hard to fill it in evenly, like sometimes happens with a lip liner. This matte lipstick applies so smoothly and evenly and doesn't skip or drag like some matte lipsticks do. It is the perfect consistency and is super opaque.

The color I have is # 409 Matte for Me. It's a nice bold pink, without being fluorescent. It has a berry undertone to it which makes it super wearable. When I wear it to work, I can get through about 6 hours without the need to reapply. And I don't need to reapply due to lack of color, because that stays ALL DAY. I usually reapply just to add some life back into the color, it can go a little dull, especially after you eat. This lipstick is a work horse. It will stay all day.

  1. Unfortunately for some reason I can't find the picture I took with it on my lips! I will add a picture in as soon as I can. Now the important part, HAS ANYONE SEEN THESE LATELY!? I want more!
